Jezzy had nothing better to do. It was getting close to sunset and that meant that the drive-ins would be opening soon. She was a night person and well she'd been up all day so a drive in movie might actually hit the spot before she found a place to lay her head for the night. She prefered to be under the stars and spent most of the nights either at that old playground or the open lot. The roof over her head she only wanted when it was raining. And even then she didn't much care. She walked with a purpose down the streets but also rather aimlessly.
She looked up from her thoughts to notice where she was. The Dingo probably the best hang out of greaser ever and the best place to catch a really good double feature. And it just so happened that she actually had money enough to pay today so she walked up and paid the person at the entrance and walked around wondering who she might see there. She was one of the first to get their anyways and she's be heading for the roof of the consession stand to begin with.
Her feet took her to the back ladder up to the roof. She leaned agains the wall to the other side of the ladder and looked out a smiled on her face. Yes tonight felt like it would be a good one. There was tension in the air and she liked that tension.

REGANHARTLEY!Romeo take me somewhere, we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess, It's a love story, baby, just say yes. Regan's long brown locks fell loose around her shoulders. Her bright blue-grey eyes scanned the darkening skies as she made her way to the Dingo. It was a niceish place though it could be a bit dangerous. The only reason Regan was out here was because she needed an escape. When she had left her father had been passed out on the couch, possibly on the floor. Faith and Finn were safely tucked into bed and Mary Rae was working on homework. Carter was out as usual. He seemed to have the same perspective as Regan, in that he tried to avoid the house. However Regan tended to be there when her siblings and father wqere home because she would rather her be the one that got hit, not one of her younger siblings.
She tightened her sweater around herself, and smoothed the patched skirt she wore. It wasn't often that Regan wore a skirt, but she kind of felt she had to today. Being out in public she did feel the necessity to wear a skirt. As it was darkening outside and it was the Dingo where she was heading, she had a small knife tucked in the waist band of her skirt at her back. Regan had never used it once but it made her feel that much safer when she went out at night. Kacey had protested when Regan had told her where she was going. However Kacey had long since lost Regan's trust and the ability to tell Regan what she could and could not do. So Regan had just left. Guilt had plagued her for a moment or two but now she could really care less.
So finally she entered the drive in. She handed over the admission fee and then went to the concession. She bought herself some popcorn, and a coke. Tonight she could splurge somewhat. Besides she had gotten the money from her father's wallet. He'd be furious when he realized but Regan would take those consequences when they came. The sound of someone climbing a ladder alerted Regan. She slipped over and somehow managed to climb up, still carrying her pop and popcorn. She wasn't surprised to see Jezzy there. "Hey," she said.

Jezzy had finally climbed the ladder a few mins back as the crowd started to pour into the joint. She loved the fact that she could see everything from the top of the concession stand. The movie would be starting in probably another hour, hour in half. There was a line of cars waiting to get in. And she knew that there were a bunch of people packed into them and in the trunks and what not. This was a happening place and could be a rather deadly one too. It all depened on the tension in the air and who showed up. The greasers didn't all like fights and rumbles for no good reason but sometimes just to pass the time they fought to get out agression and that could lead to something dangerous. They were all packing something. That included Jezzy as well.
It wasn't a good idea to go to the Dingo without being packed with a knife or a gun. Even when there was not tension in the air. But everyone could feel a rumble getting ready to come on between them and the socs and well things she knew would get very deadly this go around. But she hoped that it would hold off for a few months at least. Greaser could deal with tension it was the stupid head soc guys that couldn't. They didn't know when to wait it out. The greasers on the other hand did. That's why she loved this side of the tracks so much. Why she would never live on the other. That and she couldn't possibly live on the other at this moment in time she had no education that mattered much. Just the basics and such.
She heard someone coming up the ladder and she turned to see who it was. She smiled when she saw the top of the head. It was another girl and by the looks of it someone she actually talked too. It was confirmed when Regan's face appeared climbing onto the roof. She smiled and nodded back to Regan as the other girl said hi. "Hello Regan. How are you?" It was the normal introduction that the girls did. They weren't by nature very touchy feely people well. Jezzy wasn't anyways. She didn't like touch much. Though anyone that she remotely trusted or liked greatly could touch her. There was a whole story to that but no one asked. And she was not going to tell.
She made room for Regan to sit next to her. Her feet dangled over the roof's edge as she waited for Regan to reply to her.

REGANHARTLEY!Romeo take me somewhere, we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess, It's a love story, baby, just say yes. She smiled softly, and came to sit next to her friend. When she was settled enough that she wouldn't fall off the roof she prepared to speak. Her popcorn was rested between her legs and her coke rested on the roof beside her. She was sure it wasn't gonna fall and therefore she could answer the question she had been asked. "I'm good, and yourself?" she asked. It was a standard greeting but a comfortable one. But Regan was glad to see Jezzy. She hadn't seen her in a little bit and for all of Jezzy's quirks and such she could often placate Regan and Regan's friendship with Jezzy may just be one of the ties holding Regan to sanity. She didn't tell Jezzy that as it would probably be getting to close or rather touchy feely type thing. Regan wasn't huge on the affection thing in her friendships with females. They often got too close and then had to much dirt on each other and that blew up in their faces. Regan had a good friendship with Jezzy.
"Popcorn?" she asked, offering the bag to her friend. Regan had a soft spot for drive in and movie theater popcorn. It was the best and she was fairly addicted to it, one of her quirks. While she waited for her answers her gaze drifted out over the lot. Cars were filling in and the brunette could see members of at least two different bands of greasers. Tension was thick in the air and she worried that a fight was going to break out. She didn't want one to, because last time one had an innocent girl had gotten killed. Regan hadn't known the girl but it had effected the neighbourhood greatly. It was why Kacey hadn't wanted Regan to come here alone.

Jezzy didn't want a fight either but she knew it would come. There was just to much tension in the air. Regan and herself were safe up on the roof. It was the reason why Jezzy sat up here in the first place. she had seen the innocent get killed the last time and had dogded a bullet trying to get to the girl. she was young and really it was a horrible tragedy for the entire place. No one had gotten into a fight in a long time. Well least a while after that. It was sad that someone had to die to get them to stop fighting each other but you know. It was the price to pay she supposed. She happened to be holding the girl when the medics showed up and the girl was dead upon their arrival and Jezzy had had to explain everything. it wasn't pretty cause they had to calm her down first so they could understand her.
She had this tendency when things got back to revert into the native language that she spoke. It was a mixture between spanish and mayan and aztec. She had never really been taught anything else. It was the only thing that she held onto from her childhood before things went bad as well. English did not come easy to her when she was in a paniced mode. And she still had trouble trying to say the right words as it were. And even understanding English. She sometimes had to ask people to repeat themselves or ask what a word meant. It bugged her but she couldn't help it.
She watched the groups get settled in. There was mad dog stares going in all directions. Her attention went back to Regan as the other spoke. The two of them didn't really show affection. It was just the way their friendship had been set up. Yes they were close and very good friends but well. They knew they were eachothers voice of reason even if they didn't openly admit to it. And that was perfectly fine with them. They kept eachother on the brink of sanity. "I'm doing alright" It was her common statement she couldn't complain really. Though she hadn't had any sleep in twenty four hours now she was still okay. "What brings you out tonight." It had been some time since Jezzy had seen her friend. Her head turned to the screen as the previews began to show. Everything was calm for now.

REGANHARTLEY!Romeo take me somewhere, we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess, It's a love story, baby, just say yes. Regan shifted uncomfortably. The tension was just like what she experienced a lot at home. She knew it meant that a fight was going to break out here today. As long as it wasn't about Regan and she wasn't involved in it. She took a handful of popcorn and munched some slightly. It was light and buttery and super good. As previously stated she had always had a big movie theater popcorn love. She ran a hand through her bangs, tucking it behind her ear. Then she carefully took a sip of her drink.
"I needed an escape." she said simply. It was a classic Regan response. She always said it. But she always seemed to need a way to scape her homelife. The good thing was that Jezzy didn't ask about why she always needed to get away from home. The brunette appreciated that. Of course Regan didn't ask about Jezzy's homelife so they had an even deal there. It wasn't a bad thing either and it was a comfortable friendship.
"And yourself Jezzy? What brings you here on this tense night?" she asked, returning the question she had been asked by her friend.

Jezzy was keeping an eye on the little ones that happened to appear every so often in a place like this. Either with older siblings or just because they wanted some fun or wanted to see a fight. She really never knew why they choose the nights with so much tension to explore. That's how the young girl died the last time. Though she had been with a brother who was fighting someone else and what not. She saw that same guy. He didn't look to happy at all. It had been awhile since she'd seen him too and he looked like he was out for revenge which meant things were going to get deadly tonight and Jezzy was as usual going to be getting all the little ones away from the fighting as best that she could.
She really lived for the action and tension. It really gave her a reason to be sticking around anywhere. Her friends gave her a reason not to leave Oklahoma or them. But she needed something that would keep her say alive. She lived on the streets. She knew full well the Regan lived at home. Neither of them said much about that. She was fine with that too. Most of the greaser knew she lived on the streets mostly though. Most seeing her sleeping on a park bench or in the lot or something like that. Even in the rain sometimes. Though she normally found shelter then.
So when Regan gave her famous answer to why she was there Jezzy merely nodded with a smile. It was a knowing smile that said no questions asked at all. They never asked them and they were never going to ask them. Jezzy just figured that things weren't all that happy at home whatever the circumstances where she did not know and did not need to know until Regan wanted to tell her. Jezzy didn't pry into other people's business which kept them out of hers as well. It was just the way she was. And with her friendship with Regan it was the unspoken truths and the tendencies that they needed to say nothing to understand eachother sometimes.
"The fact that I have nothing better to do." That was a normal answer for her too. she laughed for a minuet that was until the movie started playing. The silence didn't last long. A gun shot rang out through the air and the movie abruptly stopped as those that worked there made a dash for the hills to get out of that place before things got bad. Other still went out to get help that would take forever to come in the first place. The cops never came that fast when just greaser were involved in fighting eachother. The didn't care for the juvinile deliquents and if they had gotten here on times with the girl got shot she would have been saved. "here was go again. DUCK!" She screamed the last and dragged Regan down with her as a stray and high shot bullet came their way. "Come on we have to get to the ground." It amazed some people at how cool headed Jezzy could be in the middle of complete chaos. She started to climb down the ladder placing herself as close to the wall as she could get. It keep the bullets that were now flying everywhere away from her. This wasn't exactly how soon she wanted things to start but she knew it would happen.

REGANHARTLEY!Romeo take me somewhere, we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess, It's a love story, baby, just say yes. Being up on the roof of the concession was usually a safe place if a fight broke out. But if somebody got out a gun and people were shooting at each other.. That was when things got dangerous. Fortunately Jezzy had yanked Regan down just in time for the bullet to whiz over them. Regan cursed under her breath and placed a hand on the small of her back so to check that her knife was still there. She didn't want to be caught unarmed by one of the jerkus's who had no issue trying to hurt a girl. However before she followed Jezzy down the ladder she threw her drink at someone who was aiming up. Thedrink hit them in the face, coke getting into their eyes and the gun dropping from his hand. She smiled happily and tucked her popcorn safely in the corner. There was a chance she could come back for it later. If she couldn't then it was no big deal because it had been her father's money.
As she scrambled down the ladder she cursed herself for having worn a skirt to the Dingo. She really should have known better then that. Once again she cursed under her breath before her feet hit the ground. Her eyes scanned the chaos, looking for Jezzy. In the background of it all the movie was playing. Turning slighlty she saw that her friend was pressed tightly to the wall. Deciding it was a smart idea, Regan joined her. She didn't know what to do now. What if some one came around the corner and found them hiding? What if it was someone who had a score to settled with one of the two girl's friends and the person recognized them as being close to that person and... Regan cut off her thought. This was not the normal Regan so why on earth was she acting like that. She was starting to sound like Kacey.

Regan was probably the safest person. Sure you made a few enemies along the was in the land of the greasers. But when fights broke out that were not random but planned the more people you knew on all the sides the worse off you were. It was better to stick with just your line of greasers and maybe one other of the gangs that you alined with for certain purposes pertaining to rumbles with the socs. Jezzy knew too many people for any of this to be good for her. But she didn't have that on her mind as she watched the bullets fly. She just didn't want any of the little kids to get hurt. Some had already fled or were hiding inside or under cars.
At least the kids had been smart in a way. She looked up at the movies screen as Regan pressed herself against the wall as well. Jezzy wasn't at all paranoid during fights. She could rather care less about herself but she protected her friends and innocent bystanders younger than herself. She sighed and took Regan's hand as she walked around the side of the building making them both duck as a bullet when into the side of the building. Jezzy sighed she really didn't want to have to run but hey it would be safer too in a way.
She looked at Regan. "Run towards the exist. Grab a the little kid over there and take him with you and head down the street. Away from the gun fire I'm gonna send more over to you so we can keep the little ones safe. I'll cover you." Jezzy always brought a knife to a gun battle and it didn't make since to anyone why she would. It was just she was deadly with a knife regardless. She ducked around and looked to Regan and gave her a nod to start running. It was funny how Jezzy could plan escapes in the middle of a heated battle. A bullet flew past her and she ducked and it hit the guy that had appeared behind her. And the fight was on.

REGANHARTLEY!Romeo take me somewhere, we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess, It's a love story, baby, just say yes. Regan hated Rumbles breaking out. She really just wanted to get out of here. However when Jezzy told her to run and grab the little kid along the way her instincts kicked in, the ones she used at home most of the time. The ones that let her get in the way of their father's anger more then her younger siblings though they weren't that muich younger. The little boy was nearly in the way of the fight so Regan nodded to Jezzy, saying through her nod she would do what she was told for once. Regan grabbed the small knife she hid in the band of her skirt. She would need it if anyone who was against her got to close. It was a good thing she had a degree of practice with the knife, because when she grabbed the little boy, she wouldn't stab him and that is and was generally a good thing.
She half waved to her friend and ran slowly down to where the boy stood. It took half a minute of whispered argueing and tugging on his arm for her to get him to come with her down the road. He kind of reminded her of Carter and how stubborn Carter could be, but this boy was much younger then Regan and her brother. He was a max of twelve years old, and probably younger, but Regan had never been a good judge of age so he could very well be older then twelve too. Together they ran further down the street, far enough way that only the most stray of bullets would come near them. Then they huddled there, Regan holding her knife ready if it was necessary though she doubted she would use it. Now all they could do was wait.

Jezzy kept a close eye on Regan and the kid. Then she turned her eyes to the fighting at hand. She was getting the little ones she had found as she advanced into the fire to run. They did and she told them to stay with Regan so to speak. She described as quickly as she could her friend and then headed deeper in. All the little kids seemed to be out and she could hear way out in the distance the sound of sirens. So the cops were coming. A completely late because people were already lying bleeding on the floor. And there was probably already one dead body.
Jezzy jumped over someone laying on the ground howling in pain. She didn't pay much attention but grabbed the kids gun and shot the bullet into the air. It got the people around her to stop. "The bullz are coming." She tossed the gun back to the ground and kept running into the fire. It took only minuets for her to get the the complete source of the action. A stray bullet nailed her in the shoulder blade but she didn't even wince. She'd pay attention to it later. Another one grazed the right side of her head though she moved away from it fast enough. She threw a knife in the way the bullets were coming and nailed the person who dropped the gun. She walked calmly over to him and pulled her knife out walking back to those that were rolling all bloody on the ground now.
Before she could say anything though the cops showed up shooting bullets into the air and not taking very good aim at everything else. She jumped to avoid one that came into low and ran as fast as she could out of there. There was more than one way out and everyone scattered and hid in places so that none of them would get taken in for the night. Jezzy finally made it to Regan and the kids. "Come on let's get them home." Some were crying but they managed to get them in a huddled group so they could walkl them home.

REGANHARTLEY!Romeo take me somewhere, we can be alone. I'll be waiting; all there's left to do is run. You'll be the prince and I'll be the princess, It's a love story, baby, just say yes. One by one several children joined the little group of Regan and the first boy she had gottwen to join her safely away. Some of the children were crying and Regan who had never been good in these sort of situations was at a loss of what to do. Should she hug them? Or tell them it was all gonna be all right? But that could turn out to be a lie. One of their older siblings could die in the fight that was going on out there. She had no right to say that everything would turn out okay. The sound of sirens echoed loudly throughout the neighbourhood. There was the sound of another shot and everything stopped for a moment. Jezzy's voice could be heard for a moment saying the cops were coming. Then the chaos started up again.
Soon Jezzy came round the corner to join Regan with the little kids. At first Regan was glad to know that her friend was safe but the blood was evident on her friends face and shoulder. She completely ignored the fact that Jezzy said they should get going, Regan was preoccupied by the fact that her friend could die from these wounds if she let them go untreated too long. "Are you okay Jezzy? Your bleeding, did they get you?" she asked, concern peering through her voice. One of the youngest girl who had to be about eight let out a loud wail and burried her face in Regan's stomach. Regan faltered for a moment before gently stroking the girl's head.
